What started with having some friends over sushi turned into so much more…
When our founder, Lavinia Doan(where LAV comes from) started her career as an engineer at a major oil and gas company, she didn’t know that her role would somehow catapult her into starting a sushi business.
Lavinia was sent to rotate to the Permian Basin for one of her assignments where she found a lack of quality sushi restaurants. She decided to take matters into her own hands and started making sushi with her friends and coworkers. Luckily, Lavinia was equipped with the knowledge she had acquired in college through a sushi seminar, and decades of sushi consumption all over the world. Lavinia believed that if she could make sushi, why couldn’t her friends and coworkers? You can too.
So how did the business ACTUALLY start? Well here’s the truth. Lavinia met her partner Dan at this oil and gas job and when they got engaged, she had to find a way to save up for her wedding. The two wed on 3/4/2023 at a beautiful reception at the Houston Zoo and the business still lives on.
Since then…
We have grown exponentially thanks to our amazing team and sushi family.
We have had over 5000 clients—Fortune 500 companies, professional athletes, celebrities, you name it! We have expanded to 3 cities. We have helped contribute and raise over $15,000 to local nonprofits and charities. But most importantly, we have shared our love and passion for sushi with so many people. We are incredibly thankful for the opportunity.
